Grief:
Love Trying to Find its Way Through
Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go
Jamie Anderson
The above quote by Jamie Anderson came to me in the darkest days I myself was grieving the different losses in my life. It helped me understand that beneath my deepest sufferings and longings, love was hiding and trying to make its way through. That was definitely one significant realization for me, which allowed me to move through the big feelings that kept coming and going, sometimes shapeshifting into anger, numbness, despair, and shame.
It most definitely also informed much of my perspective when working with others who approach me to support with grief and loss.
Navigating through the different stages of grief can be tricky on the brightest days, and draining at best on the rainy ones. And even if it is a path that only you will have to walk for the most part, securing professional help around it can make the process smoother.
